Mathematics for EngineersThe aim of the Jed-i Mathematics workshop will be to touch aspects of mathematics that has an impact on engineering.
Usually, mathematics is covered in the first 4 semesters but, without the engineering motivation. Sometimes the mathematical concepts needed to understand engineering concepts are not covered at all.
Come, learn your math!We will cover three aspects of mathematics :
- Linear Algebra with emphasis on projections, Householder transformation, orthogonalisation, singular value decomposition, spectral theorems.
- ODE with emphasis on Isoclines, second order ODE, systems of differential equation, modelling, Lagrangian, phase portraits, matrix exponentials, stability.
- Probability theory with emphasis on Bayes theorem, random variables, distributions, Markov and Chebyshev's inequality, central limit theorem, random processes. Sampling theorem.
- Each of the mathematical aspect is emphasised with examples from Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, and Computer Science.
