The Joy of Engineering, Design and Innovation
Scientists study the world as it is; engineers create a world that has never been - Theodore von Karman.
Jed-i is all about discovering the joy in being a creator - the joy in building structures, machines, systems and processes.
A venture by Dr. Swami Manohar and Dr. Vinay Vishwanathan, former professors of Computer Science at the Indian Institute of Science, Jed-i is the way of sharing the Joy of Engineering, Design and Innovation with young engineers who, the founders hope, will go on to build the next generation of global companies out of India.
Dr. V Vinay is a founder and Chairman of LimberLink Technologies.
Vinay was a professor at the India Institute of Science for over a decade from 1995 to 2006. He is currently an adjunct professor at the Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI). He has a wide range of interests in mathematical aspects of computer science, especially in Complexity Theory, Algorithms, and Data Mining.
While at IISc, he co-invented the Simputer, and pioneered the faculty entrepreneurship activity in IISc which served as a model for other educational institutes in India. He co-founded multiple companies including Strand Lifesciences, PicoPeta Simputers, and LimberLink Technologies.
Vinay is a recipient of the prestigious Sir C.V. Raman Award by the government of Karnataka for Excellence in Engineering Research in 2001. He is a winner of the Dewang Mehta Award for Innovation in Informatics for his role in developing the Simputer. He has been a past president for The Indian Association for Research in Computing Sciences.
He has extensive experience designing products from concept to commercially distribution, in domains as diverse as handheld computing devices and platforms, mobile applications across devices, and complex software solutions in bio-informatics.
